Thur Aug 16, 21:23 MST 2007 livecd suite: Mutagenix 2.6.18.6-2 is released. +--------------------------+ Mon Mar 12, 17:23 MST 2007 livecd suite: fixed the missing /media directory. Will probably be releasing a 2.6.18.6-2 before too long. +--------------------------+ Sun Mar 11, 16:53 MST 2007 livecd suite: CD now automatically ejects at reboot or halt. livecd suite: working on modifying a KNOPPIX script for formatting and installing to USB storage devices. livecd suite: modified runlevel boot prompt to be "runlevel=n" rather than just "n". +--------------------------+ Sat Mar 10, 15:40 MST 2007 rescue CD: Added ntfs-3g. +--------------------------+ Tue Feb 27, 13:37 MST 2007 livecd suite: Mutagenix 2.6.18.6-1 is released. +--------------------------+ Sat Feb 24, 17:42 MST 2007 livecd suite: Submitted torrents to tlm-project for processing and hosting. When the torrents are up, I will post the links and announce. +--------------------------+ Tue Feb 20, 17:29 MST 2007 livecd suite: Getting very close to the next release. I'm thinking this weekend. KDE build: Testing OpenOffice and Limewire. Removed xmule. We'll see if that works. Updated the KDE theme to use a Mutagenix based login, splash, background and kmenu. Integrated the Mutagenix Firewall, Install and Remaster into the KDE menu. +--------------------------+ Fri Feb 02, 20:16 MST 2007 livecd suite: I have to backtrack on the kernel version. Unionfs does not have stable support for the 2.6.19.x kernels yet. I believe that is where the latency was being introduced. I do have a 2.6.18.6 kernel that is working well and will probably be the kernel for the next release. I am building test CDs as we speak. +--------------------------+ Mon Jan 29, 19:58 MST 2007 livecd suite: Well, fixed the latency issue with kernel 2.6.19.2, so it looks like it will be the default for the next release. +--------------------------+ Sun Jan 28, 06:21 MST 2007 Mutagenix: Many, many changes that I've not addressed in here due to a chaotic life for the past year. I will attempt to update the highlights. The next release will likely be with the 2.6.17.3 kernel. I'm seeing latency issues with the 2.6.19.2 kernel. The improved installer will come out with this next release (thanks to Ken Roberts). The new Mutagenix will support the boottime setting of language and locale for our international users (thanks to HaBeMuS_PaPaM). Remastering the CD to your desired config will be very easy. Installing to USB is documented and simple. Firewall management has been added as an item to both KDE and GNOME menus. The firewall will not start automatically if it does not detect an internet connection. Documentation has been updated, and, of course, all the programs included are the latest available from the main slackware repositories. And lastly, I have removed the forums from the webpage due to excessive spamming. They were becoming a huge management nightmare. Again, thanks to Ken Roberts for dealing with that for so long. +--------------------------+ Thu Jun 8, 06:21 EST 2006 livecd suite: Updated firewall and dialup scripts to put .desktop files in /usr/share/applications. +--------------------------+ Thu May 25, 15:38 EST 2006 gnome build: Added Mplayer, codecs, mplayer plugin for firefox and plugger. +--------------------------+ Wed May 24, 05:15 EST 2006 website: Moved website and all support service to a new web hosting company. Mailing lists and forums are available again. +--------------------------+ Thu May 4, 16:40 EST 2006 livecd suite: Added the mutagenix_usb_boot.sh script for installing Mutagenix on a USB device and making it bootable. livecd suite: Added the mutagenix_remaster.sh script for simple remastering of the Mutagenix LiveCD. Add, remove and customize a booted livecd, and then create your own new ISO with all of your new features. livecd suite: added mc (midnight commander) and syslinux (to support booting from a USB device). rescue_build: removed cups gnome build: added cups gnome build: Upgraded to mozilla-firefox 1.5.0.3 +--------------------------+ Thu Apr 27, 8:41 EST 2006 livecd suite: added irssi command line irc client (thought I already had it in there, but evidently not :/ gnome build: Upgraded to mozilla-firefox 1.5.0.2 +--------------------------+ Wed Apr 26, 7:47 EST 2006 livecd suite: backed down to kernel 2.6.15.7, which is the latest kernel supported by unionfs gnome build: Testing with freerock-current gnome build: Upgraded to mozilla-firefox 1.5.0.1 gnome build: Upgraded to audacity 1.3.0 gnome build: Upgraded to scribus 1.3.3.1 gnome build: Upgraded to gparted 0.2.4 rescue build: Upgraded to partimage 0.6.4-1 +--------------------------+ Thu Apr 13, 8:47 EST 2006 Well, life has been busy for me these last couple weeks, so I apologize for not keeping this up to date. In preparation for a move coming up in July, I quit my job yesterday. A bit early you might say, but I have a lot of work to do on the house to get it ready to sell.... and I needed some time off. I do have the mornings to take care of some of my business, and Mutagenix will be at the top of the list. Speaking of which: livecd suite: Upgraded to kernel 2.6.16.5 livecd suite: Upgraded to busybox 1.1.2 livecd suite: Upgraded to squashfs 3.0 +--------------------------+ Wed Mar 15, 10:48 EST 2006 I will be out of town for the next two weeks while traveling for business. I'll try to check in on the forums, but connectivity may be tricky. Any help in answering questions there will be appreciated. livecd suite: added capability to boot Mutagenix into any runlevel from the boot: prompt. Hit F3 at the boot: prompt for more information. livecd suite: PXE is moving along nicely livecd suite: Mutagenix_installer (see below) has reached a stable state and will be included in the next release +--------------------------+ Wed Feb 22, 17:19 EST 2006 livecd suite: changed ntp server to us.pool.ntp.org so as to remove strain from the stratum 1 ntp servers. Ken Roberts has taken on the task of modifying the Slackware installer for use with Mutagenix. He has done excellent so far, giving the installer all of the capabilities one gets with the Slackware installer, such as: using different partitions to mount parts of the directory tree (ie /usr and /var), setting root password, selecting time zone and more. He's currently working on GRUB support and is almost there. The PXE work has gone a little slower as I've had to rebuild my home network for testing and then found that neither of my old test machines support PXE boot. I've downloaded an image from the etherboot project and will see how that works, maybe tonight. +--------------------------+ Fri Feb 10, 12:19 EST 2006 Work proceeds on improving the installer and also on the PXE install server. I've been away on travel for work and have a couple more trips to go before I'm done. Once I get some stability, I'll start testing for the new release which will also depend on Freerock Gnome's release cycle. +--------------------------+ Tue Jan 31, 9:42 EST 2006 rescue build: added samba and lvm2 livecd suite: most of my time lately has been working on the installer and a PXE package that you can slapt-get install and make your LiveCD booted box into a build server for any box on the network. Initial stages right now. +--------------------------+ Tue Dec 27, 09:20 EST 2005 livecd suite: Mutagenix 2.6.14.2-2 is released. +--------------------------+ Thu Dec 22, 16:13 EST 2005 livecd suite: Uploaded new images to server. Should rsync up tonight. livecd suite: Installer now works from a copy2ram loaded Mutagenix LiveCD. x builds: Made available on the Mutagenix slapt-get repository a set of wallpapers (some nice shots of mountains from kitzbuhel Austria) over and above the default Mutagenix backgrounds. x builds: Detects and generates a custom xorg.conf upon bootup. See Readme.screen_resolution in the /root directory for more information. This should fix many problems folks have been having with X not starting. build scripts: Includes a fairly complete overview of the build system in the cd_build directory. See Readme.build_scripts and Readme.build_kernel for more information. +--------------------------+ Fri Dec 9, 12:45 EST 2005 livecd suite: Updated to parted-1.6.25.1 x builds: Updated to gparted-0.0.9 x builds: source nvidia driver 1.0-8174 is available via slapt-get from Mutagenix -- requires make, gcc and kernel source in order to build. I'm considering other/better ways of making this driver available. +--------------------------+ Wed Dec 7, 13:38 EST 2005 x builds: Updated to Mozilla Firefox 1.5 +--------------------------+ Tue Dec 6, 10:58 EST 2005 livecd suite: Added ntfsprogs kde disk: updated to KDE 3.5. +--------------------------+ Mon Dec 5, 13:52 EST 2005 kde disk: added smb4k, an SMB/CIFS share browser for KDE. +--------------------------+ Thu Dec 1, 9:54 EST 2005 build system: built XFS, JFS and ReiserFS support into the kernel. Missing libraries were added. +--------------------------+ Fri Nov 25, 15:54 EST 2005 livecd suite: Mutagenix 2.6.14.2-1 is released. +--------------------------+ Mon Nov 22, 13:20 EST 2005 livecd suite: Completed changes and testing. Releasing tonight. +--------------------------+ Mon Nov 18, 13:30 EST 2005 livecd suite: Upgraded to kernel 2.6.14.2 livecd suite: Put finishing touches on a menu based installer using dialog. Currently, only LILO is offered, but I hope to get GRUB supported soon. Also only an install from the LiveCD is supported, but I hope to include an internet install option on the next release. livecd suite: added "nomount" boot option so the livecd would not mount all auto-detected partitions. +--------------------------+ Mon Nov 14, 12:23 EST 2005 livecd suite: added netcat and diffutils. +--------------------------+ Tue Nov 8, 10:39 EST 2005 x builds: added the xmule P2P client to the GNOME and KDE CDs. freerock gnome: Updated the menu system for the FVWM2 alternate Destop to reflect the GNOME programs that are installed on the system. +--------------------------+ Tue Nov 1, 11:51 EST 2005 freerock gnome: removed extra packages that duplicated functionality based on Freerock's preferences. livecd suite: added rsync and nmap to all LiveCDs. livecd suite: Upgraded to kernel 2.6.13.4 +--------------------------+ Thu Oct 13, 12:50 EDT 2005 build system: The last month has been a learning process for me figuring out exactly how linux-live scripts worked. I'm sure I'm still not 100% on them, but I know enough now, I hope, to venture out on my own. build system: Included lshwd for auto loading of modules during initrd. livecd suite: Created a boot.initrd.gz for use on installed systems which uses lshwd to probe for hardware and auto load the necessary modules. +--------------------------+ Wed Oct 5, 14:49 EDT 2005 livecd suite: Had to back off most of my upgrades while I tracked down a problem with loop devices in the initrd. Finally found the culprit in busybox. Got it straightened out now and have upgraded much of the base software. build system: Upgraded to linux-live scripts 5.1.8 build system: Upgraded to unionfs 1.0.14 build system: Upgraded to squashfs 2.2-r2 livecd suite: Upgraded to kernel 2.6.13.3 +--------------------------+ Thu Sep 15 15:55:07 EDT 2005 livecd suite: Upgraded to Slackware 10.2 build system: created a boot.initrd.gz which will be used on a harddrive install to load modules for lshwd discovered hardware. +--------------------------+ Fri Aug 26 15:56:10 EDT 2005 build system: Added SCSI drivers to initrd. Thanks to Eric L. Graves. livecd suite: expected versions for next release: Rescue, KDE, Freerock GNOME, Asterisk and Slamd64. gware: no longer including gware. Although I think it is a good, stable gnome release, I just have too many pokers in the fire and need to concentrate on one GNOME version. +--------------------------+ Thu Jul 7 10:07:15 EDT 2005 livecd suite: Begin work on next version of Mutagenix +--------------------------+ |
